About...
My name is Leora Harling and
it is my mission to help people heal from their issues around food,
diets, body weight and all of the supplemental issues that come along
with those (relationship issues, self esteem issues, family issues, and
beyond).
When we focus on losing weight, we look ahead to a time when we will
look better, and we ignore ourselves in the present. Our lives are
stunted, stagnant and for some, trapped in an endless cycle and
obsession to lose weight. In my experience, focusing on losing
weight is very similar to focusing on the negative. I encourage clients
to change their thinking around losing and focus on gaining or the
positive. That would be gaining strength, gaining self esteem, gaining
body love, gaining new wisdom into what it would be like in their life
if food and weight loss were not the focus. Many people find it
liberating and find that they are able to live their lives in a much
lighter way, without the burden of always having food and weight on
their mind.
As we work to change the behaviors, we also work to find out what is
going on underneath the issue with food. I am gentle and compassionate
and am your advocate. My job is to provide a safe space and to support
you in sorting through the issues that brought you to begin abusing
your body with food or with the absence of food.
I have been working in the healing arts since 1999. I recieved my certification in Clinical Hypnotherapy from the Center
for Hypnotherapy in Oakland, CA and then began working exclusively with clients who were looking to heal from food addiction.
I recieved my Masters
Degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of
Integral Studies in San Francisco.
I did my clinical training at Henry Ohlhoff 's
Intensive Outpatient Treatment Center for Eating Disorders in San
Francisco, CA.
I also hold a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing
from Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.
I incorporate several different modalities into my healing work.
This includes Hypnotherapy, Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt Therapy,
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Journal Writing and Psychodynamic work.
I believe that
all human beings are deserving and capable of healing and that health comes in all shapes and sizes.
